The feeling of warmth and homeliness is palpable in this 5-room Design, Build & Sell Scheme (DBSS) flat. This is where married couple of 5 years, Ismail and Asrina, has called home since May 2009..
Let's find out the inspiration behind this home at The Premiere@Tampines, Singapore's first condo-style public housing built by a private developer.
Living Room
Drawing inspiration from contemporary Bali and Thai influences, the living area is wrapped in various shades of brown, red and yellow. The feature wall follows the design of a raw Thai silk and cove lighting is used to create the desired Bali-Thai ambience. Furnished with items carefully sourced from various antique shops locally as well as overseas, the whole room exudes a feeling of calmness and serenity.
Dining Room
The chandelier is a nice, elegant touch to the dining area. A slim side table was designed specially to complement the hanging picture on the wall, while the large framed mirror gives the illusion of spaciousness.
The Study
A corner of the dining room was converted into a study area for the children. The bookshelf cleverly doubles up as a partition separating the study from the dining room.
The Balcony
A vintage Dutch colonial garden chair is placed at the balcony, acting as an anchor to the theme of the house. This is a laid-back relaxing corner where the family hangs over the weekends.
Master Bedroom
A master bedroom with simple clean lines. The earthy and warm colours bring out the coziness of the room.
