There’s something charming about older homes. Small bathrooms are not one of those things. For whatever reason, many older homes suffer from having smaller bathroom spaces. If you’re house hunting and love everything about a prospective home, minus the bathroom(s), do not despair. There are lots of things you can do to get the most out of a smaller bathroom.
The vanity
In a smaller bathroom, the vanity often takes up most of the real estate. When remodeling your bathroom, choosing the right vanity is all important if you’re working with a smaller space. To maximize space in your bathroom, consider a pedestal sink rather than a vanity with built-in sink. The biggest downside to this is that it limits your storage space since you lose out on cabinet space you would have in a traditional vanity.
If a pedestal sink is out-of-the question, go with a slimmer looking vanity with light-colored cabinets. Though it doesn’t actually create space, you can opt for a vanity with dresser-like legs which allows you to see the floor beneath the vanity. This gives the appearance of space and makes the bathroom appear larger than it really is.
Creating new space
If you’ve got enough in your remodeling budget, you can create new space by completely reconfiguring the bathrooms layout. If the small bathroom in question has a shower/bathtub, for instance, you can tear it out and replace it with just a shower that takes a little less space. If the bathroom is awkwardly configured, you can rearrange it to make the most out of the space you do have.
If the bathroom door swings inward, that can really make a small bathroom seem even smaller. You can reverse the hinges so the door swings outward or replace the swinging door with a sliding door than slides into the wall when the bathroom is not in use.
You can also find some creative storage solutions such as building a small medicine cabinet into the wall making use of space between the walls rather than taking up valuable real estate. Small baskets or ceramic jars placed atop the counter can store smaller bathroom items without taking up cabinet space.
Lighting and tile
Finally, you can make a small bathroom seem larger by simply updating the lighting and tile. Dark colors tend to make a space feel smaller. Use white tile for the flooring and add lots of lighting to your bathroom to really lighten up the space. You’ll be surprised how much larger your bathroom will seem without adding any square footage.

You can add color with accessories. Even a minimal splash of color in a small space will add a big dose of fun.

Thanks for the Tips.
Yes, there are many different ways we can remodel our smaller bathroom and make it look more functional, easier to move around in, and look larger. When we attempt to remodel our small bathroom, one of the best way to do is by adding light colored wall paint, choose pale tiles for the floor and so on. Last month my friend has renovated her small bathroom by replacing the floor tiles, adding colors to the wall and also by taking a reference from a walk in bathtubs Seattle (http://www.walkinbathtubwa.com/features-accessories/), she had installed walk in bathtub for her grandmother. It is relatively easy and cheap to come up with creative designs since we are only working in a little space.
