I think you have to consider the following;

1) are you planning to get a maid or nanny?
2) Milk powder?
3) diapers ?
4) doctor check up cost?
5) Injection for baby - note if you go polyclinic it is either free or a nominal fee. Pte will be expensive up to $100.
6) celebration of birth of baby...

i have recently make my sums, that would seems like an average of about $1,200 per month. hmmmm.... quite a hefty sum. would probably need to hold back family planning. our increment is not even that much. how to have baby like that.

Talking about increment - I think you should be happy there is no pay cut.

$1200 seems pretty decent - If you are one that does not let your baby use so much pampers than that may cut some cost.
