Is it a good idea to paint a vintage table if it's not in such a good condition?

Maybe u would like to elaborate abit further about the conditions of the table? If it is just the paint and varnish is coming off a new coat of paint would refresh the table.

The situation is almost what you've described. Hopefully a new coat of paint can resolve the issue. Thanks for your comment! =)

actually if it's a vintage table, i suggest not to refresh with a new coat of paint but then get a specialist to maintain it so that it might become an antique and can fetch you good money next time.

I agree with hazel. If you will repaint it, it will lose it true beauty. You could put chemical to the table to make it more stronger and preserve its look.
