- Biography:
- Hi, I'm Carlos, I work as a janitor.
Some people clean the wells, build them or work on them, but for the moment their main function is the maintenance and rehabilitation of the sewage system.
In the beginning this work consisted of "finding and bringing water to the surface" and there is enough evidence in the literature of the most ancient cultures to prove it.
The main sewage system we know of was built in Nippur (India) in 3750 B.C., although it was in Ancient Greece that the real sewage systems were built.
But it was only at the beginning of the 19th century that the first sewerage system was designed in Hamburg with the same basic principles that are still valid today, followed by the sewers of London and Paris. From then until today, the work of sewerage workers has changed substantially thanks to the introduction of new technologies.
Today, sewerage workers are primarily engaged in the maintenance and restoration of the sewage system, using the latest technological advances that have managed to do what was practically impossible years ago: clean, maintain and rehabilitate the deteriorated pipes without having to open a trench or run great risks, because trenchless sewers manage to create a new pipe inside which we must repair, using some openings that already exist.
