Hello, my name is Edmundo; I am an occupational risk prevention technician working for a scaffolding sales and rental company. An occupational risk prevention specialist is therefore responsible for maintaining health and safety in the company he serves. His task is essentially to check that the working environment is safe and does not pose any risk to the health of the employees. In this way, ORP technicians must work in collaboration with all parts of the company. They must be in permanent contact with the management and the Human Resources department. But they must also be in contact with the workers themselves and with the trade unions, as well as with the Health Inspectorate, among others. The final objective is to ensure that the company complies with current legislation and offers a safe working environment to its employees, by putting in place the necessary measures to achieve this. These measures include training the workers themselves. Working in a sector such as occupational risk prevention, in general, can offer professionals great satisfaction. It must be taken into account that one is a participant in the health care of the company's employees. In this way, a good professional can feel really comfortable with his work. To achieve their objectives, occupational risk prevention technicians must act in different areas: Carrying out routine inspections and risk assessments: the results on safety must reach the management. In this way they can work together to establish improvements and corrective measures, if necessary. Checking the situation of employees on site: Some professions involve a high risk, so it is essential to strictly follow the safety procedures laid down in the regulations. The technician must identify any risks, whether in equipment or the work environment, and promote good practices. Collaborate in accident investigations: the technician must be available to labour inspectors to analyse and determine the causes of any incident. These reports must be the basis for implementing measures to prevent further accidents in the company.
