Should I get a Water Purifier to purify tap water?

I'm thinking should I get a Water Purifier to purify tap water? Any suggestions?

Unless your water pipes are rusty or you prefer the taste of purified water (one of my friends swear that it tastes better), I think you can just drink off the tap!

In my opinion its a good idea if only your water source have sanitation issues (rust, minerals, microbial, and high chlorine content). otherwise, you can use tap water, as it is chlorinated before pumped into distribution.
