I think ok la. BUT hdb better seek permission from govt. think also have to abide by some fire safety regulations.
again the question is whether you want to do the proper or improper way. like ah boy said, proper way is to seek HBD approval. improper does not neccessary means illegal too, just that you proceed without understanding the situation.
in fact, my mom partitioned her living room into a bedroom, so she could sleep in the bedroom and rent out the master bedroom to earn extra cash. she has a rather big living room. surprisingly this was suggested by officer from HDB so i presume it's alright.
