How to get rid of a strong metallic smell in my new stainless steel pot?

Add tap water to your new stainless steel pot, bring to boil. After that add lemon slices into boiling water and continue to boil for a few minutes. Let it simmer and pour away the water and discard the lemon. Let it dry and the metallic smell should be gone by then!

I've found that residual machining lubricant can impart a smell my brain associates with metal, and oils can be a beyotch to completely remove. In any case, that's a tri-clad pot so everything you're looking at is stainless steel, which shouldn't on its own produce a metallic aroma. I would suggest dish soap. Rinse it well afterword.
