Default where to get cheap yet stylish cushion cover

    hey, all the smarties here...

I want to spice up my dull black leather 2 seater with some stylish designer cushions... like those you see in home decor magazine. but problem is the price is also very "NICE" - $100++over for a cushion. gosh!

So anyone has good suggestion? being to ikea but dun think much of their selection. too common. my budget is $30 & below for 1 cushion or cover.

    Tks!

    hi gloriajean

why not tried DIY cushion cover.

here is what i have found on the net :

    Gather your supplies
Floral cotton print; contrast fabric for backing; matching sewing thread; 4 medium-sized buttons; jute string; cushion insert

    Here's how
    1. Decide the finished size of your cushion cover. For the front of the cover, cut a rectangle of floral fabric 2crn wider and 6cm longer than the finished size. From the contrast backing fabric, cut a rectangle 2cm wider and 14cm longer than the finished size.

    2. On the floral rectangle, press under 1 cm on one shorter edge, then press under another 4cm and stitch the hem in place. On the backing rectangle, press under 1 cm on one shorter edge, then press under another 1 cm and stitch the hem in place.

    3. With right sides together and raw edges matching, stitch front to back along the remaining shorter edge, allowing a 1cm seam. (The hemmed edge of the backing will extend above the hemmed edge of the front. This extending section becomes the cover's flap).

    4. Before stitching the sides of the cover together, fold the extending flap back over the hemmed edge of the front of the cover, so that the right side of the flap is now facing the wrong side of the front. Pin and stitch the side seams, stitching through all the layers at the top edge of each side. Turn the cover right side out. folding the flap back to the inside.

    5. Place cushion insert inside cover and ascertain position of fastenings. Stitch two buttons to the front edge and two buttons to the flap to correspond. Loop jute string around the button pairs and tie in a bow to secure.

talk about cushion cover... i just bought some from Barang Barang... they are having sale... most covers have 30% off. mine originally $9.90 after discount it's only $6.75 - but it's those very plain kind. they have more complicated design oso but those are around $20-$30+++ but think it'll fall within yr range if you get it at 30% off.

well, i usually try avoid buying those sequins or beaded cushion covers. cos some sequins cushions covers i bought - like half of the sequins fallen off ( well after many washes , i must admit ) ... they ended up looking like jigsaw puzzles missing some of the pieces

    hi,

I'm thinking of going to spotlight to get some fabric (sometime the loose pieces are sold at discounted rate and then get those seamstresses at market to sew the covers instead. If i can get the good nice fabric enuff for 2 big cushions at $30-$40, estimate the workmanship to be around $10 - $15... i think it's still worth it. wat do you guys think?

    some samples tat i luv:
