i know there are many types of locks but what is good for home use for the main door.

The safest bet should be the deadbolt lock for your door. It is the tried and tested solution for all homes all over the work. Careful not to get those surface mounted wedge locks as it makes your door vulnerable.

I found this deadbolt lock with fingerprint access feature really impressive. It is from a local distributor so it shouldn't be hard to find it here in Singapore.
