rental - who should pay what?
recently, there were some disputes between my friend (tenant) and owner regarding who should pay what household charges.
Can anyone advise if there are any fixed rules on who should pay tge following:
1. town council
2. house / fire insurance
3. TV licence
4. SCV charges

typically
Town council charges by landlord
house fire insurance by landlord , however tenant may like to take up insurance for their own belongings.
TV license by tenant
SCV charges by tenant
unless been agree between the parties involve what the rental includes from the begining.

Hi, Evel
Just looking at the question you post to Babyrie,
Kaypohing here
I bought a home insurance policy myself which covers the followings;
Renovation, fixtures and fittings
alternative accommodation
household contents
breakage of fixed glass
replacement ot locks and keys
loss of Pedigree pets
third party personal liability
personal accident for insured
personal accident for spouse
personal accident for child
I being the kiasu type, wanted everything covered
The cost of the insurance is about $240 per year

hi happylalapo,
thanks for your kapoying but it has really give me a good insight. i did not know that home insurance covers things like pets belongings but just wondering how to determine the value like household contents etc.
$240 annually is really affordable. which agency did you use? can i buy on behalf of the owner (i'm refering to my dad).

My insurance from AIG
You can buy on behalf - not an issue here , why not speak with your agent.
If you do not have one I can PM you my agent, I think she is pretty good.
